OUR FAMILY / OUR FOUNDER / OUR NEXT CHAPTER

Good things
have good roots.

Before the first box, there was a family connection to the land. Rautenbach Fresh carries that perspective into something new.

Our story belongs to the Eastern Cape: the agricultural roots of Patensie and Elandsrivier, and a fresh ambition for the tables of Gqeberha.

A FAMILY CONNECTION TO THE LAND

A story that grows
across generations.

The Rautenbach family’s agricultural background reaches back to Patensie in the Gamtoos Valley. Citrus, vegetables and livestock form part of that heritage.

That history gives Rautenbach Fresh its context. The new business stands on its own, with Gerik’s attention on the customer choosing produce today.

Heritage can open a conversation. The care taken with each new order is what must keep it going.

Explore the family farming background
1958

The first roots.

The family story began on Patentie 3 in the Gamtoos Valley in 1957. Gert Rautenbach Boerdery dates its establishment to 1958.

2015

A different landscape.

The farming story expanded into an Elandsrivier chapter, with vegetables and livestock alongside the family’s citrus background.

2020

Room to keep growing.

Wheatlands became a base for the family’s vegetable farming.

2026

Gerik’s fresh chapter.

Rautenbach Fresh begins as a separate produce business for Gqeberha, drawing on family roots and Gerik’s procurement and export experience.

Fruit procurement and export experience. Family farming roots. A personal point of contact for your next fresh start.

MEET YOUR FOUNDER

The name is personal.
So is the standard.

Gerik brings a buyer’s attention to detail to the everyday business of choosing fresh produce.

His experience in fruit procurement and exports informs the questions behind an offer: what is available, how it has been handled, which specification fits the customer, and what needs to be clear before an order is accepted.

With Rautenbach Fresh, he is applying that perspective locally. Useful boxes, individual packs and business enquiries all begin with the same principle: a customer should understand what they are choosing and know who to speak to.

The ambition reaches beyond Gqeberha. The work starts here—with an order handled carefully, a question answered properly and a relationship worth returning to.

OUR ROOTS INFORM OUR CHOICES

Close to the land.
Clear about the source.

The family’s farming background includes vegetables such as butternut, pumpkin, broccoli, cauliflower, potatoes and sweetcorn. Rautenbach Fresh also works with sourced produce to complete its own range.

The origin of an item is a batch-level detail, not something a family name can establish on its own. Ask Gerik about the growing area, variety and supply available for your order.

Our orchard photographs are licensed stock illustrations. They are not presented as images of our family farms, and our family connection does not mean every product is grown by us.

01 / WHAT WE CHOOSE

Make the detail count.

Clear specifications, useful pack sizes and attention to eating quality belong in the buying conversation, not only in the marketing.

02 / HOW WE SPEAK

Tell the useful truth.

Availability, origin, price and fulfilment should be understandable. If something changes, we discuss it before acceptance.

03 / WHERE WE’RE GOING

Earn the next step.

We want to build a respected South African produce business. Dependability begins with the experience of the customer in front of us.
