THE NAME BEHIND YOUR NEXT BOX

A family name.
A personal standard.

For Gerik Rautenbach, produce is more than a product on a price list.

His family’s farming story reaches back to the Gamtoos Valley and Gert Rautenbach Boerdery. His own background in fruit procurement and exports adds another perspective: the details that matter between a grower, a buyer and the person who finally takes a bite.

Rautenbach Fresh is his next chapter. A local business built around considered sourcing, honest information and the simple value of being available when a customer has a question.

DETAILS THAT EARN YOUR TRUST

Care is in
the everyday.

01 / YOUR PRODUCE

Ask good questions.

Variety, origin, size and ripeness affect how you enjoy your produce. Ask us what is available for your order; we’ll confirm the details we can stand behind.

02 / YOUR CHOICES

Keep things clear.

Stated weights. Listed box contents. A total you can review. If a substitution is needed, the conversation happens before your order is accepted.

03 / YOUR EXPERIENCE

Stay personally involved.

From the first enquiry to a question after collection, you have a person to contact. Good service is part of what you’re choosing.

FOR BIGGER TABLES & AMBITIOUS BUSINESSES

A LITTLE VALUE, BEYOND THE BOX

Make your fresh
go a little further.

Simple habits. Less forgotten produce.
More possibility in your everyday.

Fresh whole potatoesFRESH NOTE / 01

Give everything its own place.

Potatoes prefer cool, dark ventilation. Onions like dry air. Keep them apart, and put carrots in the fridge. Small storage choices make your weekly shop work harder.

Red apples on a pale surfaceFRESH NOTE / 02

Let ripeness set your menu.

Use the ripest fruit first. Keep apples cool and bananas at room temperature. A quick look at your fruit bowl helps you decide what to snack on today and what can wait.

Whole butternut squashFRESH NOTE / 03

Turn the basics into something good.

Roast butternut and sweet potato for a simple supper, then save a portion for tomorrow’s lunch. Build around a few useful ingredients rather than a fridge full of forgotten plans.

Storage needs depend on ripeness and condition. Check each product’s storage note and the produce you receive.

OCTOBER — DECEMBER 2026

Let the season
set the table.

Our menu follows a defined window. Availability and eating quality always come before a promise on a page.

19 OCTOBER — 30 NOVEMBER

Spring, with a squeeze.

Build around our core vegetables, apples and bananas. Add oranges and lemons while suitable late-season citrus is available. Citrus ordering ends on 30 November.

1 — 19 DECEMBER

Good basics, fresh possibilities.

Our planned core range continues. Ask about summer fruit for a separate quote, or tell us what you would love to see in the next menu.

GOOD RELATIONSHIPS GROW GOOD BUSINESSES

You grow it.
Let’s grow together.

We’re interested in growers and produce suppliers who care about quality, clear specifications and dependable communication. Introduce your farm or business and tell us what you do well.

Become a supplier

GOOD QUESTIONS. USEFUL ANSWERS.

Before the box.
Beyond the basics.

We want you to feel informed, from choosing a pack to making it last at home.

How does an order work, from basket to collection?

Start with a box or choose individual packs. Your basket shows the pack sizes, quantities and collection-price total before you send a request. Add your name, contact details, suburb and preferred dates. Gerik then checks stock and quality, confirms the final total and agrees collection or a delivery quote with you. Sending a request does not take payment or reserve stock. Your reference helps us keep the conversation together.

What am I paying for, and can the contents change?

Every product has a stated minimum net produce weight; packaging is not part of that weight. Each box has an exact contents list rather than an unspecified seasonal assortment. Whole fruit and vegetables naturally vary in size, variety and ripeness. If an item is unavailable or unsuitable, we discuss a replacement and any price difference with you before the order is accepted. We won’t quietly swap something you chose.

What is Fresh Again? Is it an automatic subscription?

Fresh Again is a plan for one listed box on each of four agreed weekly dates. The displayed plan price covers all four boxes; it is not a weekly debit. We confirm the schedule and availability before you pay. There is no automatic renewal. Individual produce packs remain once-off additions unless we agree otherwise. If your plans change or you may miss a collection, contact Gerik before the agreed date to discuss the options.

Where can I collect, and do you deliver?

We serve Gqeberha / Port Elizabeth. Collection is by arrangement, with the exact address and time supplied in your confirmation. If you need delivery, select “Please quote delivery” and tell us your suburb and any access requirements. The delivery charge and timing must be agreed before acceptance. We do not promise free, same-day or nationwide delivery. For a business destination or a larger load, use our bulk enquiry builder.

Is all the produce grown by the Rautenbach family?

Our family story is connected to Gert Rautenbach Boerdery, with roots in Patensie and Elandsrivier. Rautenbach Fresh is Gerik’s own fresh produce business and also sources from other growers and suppliers to complete the range. The family connection does not mean that every pack comes from a family farm. Ask us for the origin and variety of your selection; we confirm what we can substantiate for that batch.

How do I keep my fruit and vegetables fresher for longer?

Start by separating dry storage from chilled storage. Keep potatoes somewhere cool, dark and ventilated; keep onions dry and separate. Refrigerate carrots and apples, and ripen bananas at room temperature. Every product page has its own storage note. Check your produce when you receive it, remove anything deteriorating and plan to use riper items first. Our Fresh Notes below give you three practical habits for a better weekly routine.

Can my restaurant, shop or office order larger quantities?

Yes—tell us what you need rather than clicking the add button repeatedly. The bulk builder accepts typed quantities, including 100 packs, and shows the pack size on each line. Retail prices are a guide; a volume quote depends on grade, total weight, pack format, frequency, lead time and destination. Include your business name and requirements before sending. Large requests are confirmed individually and do not imply stock has already been reserved.

What if something is wrong with my produce?

Contact Gerik as soon as you notice a concern, using your reference number, product name and a clear description of what you received. Keep the produce and packaging while we discuss the issue, and have photographs ready if they would help explain it. We’ll review the facts and agree an appropriate resolution. Clear communication matters before and after collection; our ordering notes do not remove your applicable consumer rights.

What is available over the next two months?

Our launch menu is planned for 19 October–19 December 2026. Potatoes, onions, carrots, butternut, sweet potatoes, apples and bananas form the core range, subject to supply and quality checks. Oranges, lemons and the Citrus Edit are conditional late-season offers through 30 November. Citrus ordering then closes on the website. Ask about summer fruit or other vegetables for a separate quote rather than assuming they are included.

I grow or supply produce. How do we work together?

Visit Become a supplier and introduce your farm or business, location, products, grades, pack formats, available volumes and supply window. Tell us how the produce is handled and whether transport to Gqeberha is available. Certifications can be listed if you hold them; an application is not approval or a purchase order. Gerik will assess the fit and discuss specifications, traceability, pricing and a possible first supply before any commitment.
